Naver will end the "write reply" feature in Cafes starting on the 27th. The function to create a new reply that continues like a separate post under a post will be removed, and users' opinions will be organized to be left through comments.
Replies already registered and the comments attached under them will continue to be viewable and usable. However, after the service ends, the write reply button will no longer appear in the post menu.
Until now, replies were often used in Cafes for brief greetings or attendance checks. Naver recently introduced best comments and revamped the like feature, reorganizing Cafe communication around comments. This step is also intended to keep the flow of posts and comments on one screen to clarify the conversation's context.
Cafe is Naver's flagship community service, with diverse use cases such as hobbies, local groups, fandoms, and study groups. While features are being reduced, strengthening comment reactions can ease operators' burden of post lists growing with short replies.
Users will also be able to follow key opinions and reactions within a single post, likely simplifying the board structure. However, some Cafes that have used replies like announcement-style conversations or attendance boards are expected to need adjustments to their operating methods.
