Unknown Worlds, the U.S. game studio under Krafton, said on the 12th it will begin Steam pre-purchase and downloads ahead of the early access launch of "Subnautica 2."
"Subnautica 2" recently surpassed 5 million cumulative Steam wishlists. The pre-download is intended to help players who want to jump into the game immediately at launch. "Subnautica 2" will launch in early access on the 15th.
"Subnautica 2" is the sequel to the hit ocean adventure game "Subnautica," which has sold more than 6 million copies worldwide. It is set on an alien planet different from the previous game. The company said, "We brought an unknown ecosystem to life with graphics based on Unreal Engine 5." For the first time in the series, it introduces a co-op mode for up to four players, allowing teammates to devise survival strategies together and share the accomplishments of exploration.
Ted Gill, head of Unknown Worlds, said, "We look forward to making the game together as we listen to your voices."
Lee Jin-hyung, Deputy Minister at Krafton, said, "Holding the No. 1 spot on the Steam wishlist for nine months and surpassing 5 million is the result of the trust and expectations global fans have for the Subnautica IP," adding, "The deeper narrative and meticulously designed game ecosystem will offer players the awe of the deep sea and the joy of exploration."
