Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform, said on the 12th that it launched a new feature called "SongDNA" that helps users delve deeper into the music they love.
The new feature is designed to let users intuitively see the background of a song's creation and the links among its creators. For example, it shows at a glance which music inspired the song a user is listening to and how it influenced other artists.
Beyond simple singer, composer, and performer information, users can check a variety of links related to the song, such as which singer covered it, which tracks it sampled, and whether collaborators who worked on the track took part in other projects.
A Spotify official said, "SongDNA is a feature that more intuitively shows how the song you're listening to was created within a web of inspiration and connections," adding, "Users can discover new music and tastes as they naturally follow the genealogy of music."
The related information is compiled based on materials provided directly by artists and reputable community sources. Going forward, the company plans to expand the feature so that artists and labels can directly manage and update information through Spotify for Artists.
SongDNA is currently available in beta for Spotify Premium users worldwide on the Spotify app for iOS and Android.
