Oracle said on the 12th that Samsung Electronics will adopt the Oracle Java SE Universal Subscription to standardize global software development.
Through this adoption, Oracle will help Samsung Electronics unify its enterprise application development environment on Oracle Java and simplify IT operations. As its global workforce and software development projects have expanded, Samsung Electronics has seen a growing need to standardize on a single application development platform.
With the Java SE Universal Subscription, Oracle will streamline Samsung Electronics' license management and support responses to compliance risks and stronger security. In particular, to ensure sensitive and mission-critical semiconductor development proceeds without interruption, Samsung Electronics engineers will be able to apply the latest security patches quickly.
Oracle said the service provides proactive updates based on a systematic security patch system compared with open-source alternatives. Samsung Electronics engineers can also receive technical support through the Oracle Java support organization.
Vice President Lee Geun-ho of the Samsung Electronics AI Center said, "By adopting the Java SE Universal Subscription, we aim to provide a safe, reliable, and standardized development environment for our internal engineering organization," and added, "Through collaboration with Oracle Java, we have minimized operational risks and simplified license management, allowing us to focus continuously on innovation."
