Naver said on the 8th that it will open a special page timed to the 9th nationwide local elections to be held on June 3.
On the page, users can find a variety of information, including: ▲ "Press pick (PiCK)," where news outlets themselves select election stories ▲ "Regional election news," offering tailored election information by region ▲ "Polls" by outlet and region ▲ key election schedules, election basics, and past voter turnout. On election day, a "live election special corner" will feature a collection of breaking-news live broadcasts. Users can also check the joint exit poll results from the three terrestrial broadcasters and projection results from other media outlets.
Naver will provide candidate information—such as name, photo, birth, and education—supplied by the National Election Commission starting May 21, the first day of the campaign period, once candidate registration closes on the 15th.
Kim Su-hyang, a Naver leader, said, "Naver is advancing policy changes and technology to ensure not only the accurate and fast delivery of information for the local elections but also that the comments section on election-related news becomes a healthy forum for communication," and added, "Going forward, we will work with the National Election Commission and the Korea Internet Self-governance Organization (KISO) to curb the spread of false information."
