Netmarble's revenue and operating profit in the first quarter of this year grew slightly from a year earlier on the back of new releases.
Netmarble said in a filing on the 7th that, on a consolidation basis, its first-quarter operating profit was tentatively tallied at 53.1 billion won. That is up 6.8% from the same period a year earlier (49.7 billion won).
However, it fell 52.1% from 110.8 billion won in the fourth quarter of last year.
First-quarter revenue was 651.7 billion won, up 4.5% from a year earlier. Net profit was 210.9 billion won, up 163% in the same period.
Netmarble said revenue rose slightly year over year thanks to new releases such as "Stone Age: Idle" and "The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin." However, because major new titles were launched mainly at the end of the quarter, results declined from the previous quarter.
Overseas revenue in the first quarter was 512.2 billion won, accounting for 79% of total revenue. By region, the revenue mix was North America 41%, Korea 21%, Europe 13%, Southeast Asia 12%, Japan 7%, and other regions 6%.
Netmarble CEO Kim Byung-kyu said, "Based on a diversified portfolio, we expect from the second quarter that revenue from new titles will be fully reflected, delivering both topline growth and improved profitability."
