Domestic users of Anthropic's artificial intelligence (AI) app Claude rose by nearly 70% in a month.
According to IGAworks Mobile Index on the 6th, users of the Claude app on Korea's Google Android and Apple App Store increased by 410,000 (68%) in the previous month from a month earlier. The monthly increase ranked second after Hana Bank's integrated finance app Hana One Q (670,000).
Mobile Index said, "Amid intensifying competition in the Generative AI market, Claude posted standout growth," and noted, "With 410,000 users newly joining over a month, it has emerged as a new powerhouse in Korea's AI app market."
Claude is a representative Generative AI service that sparked a "vibe coding" boom, in which entering natural language leads to building apps or creating programs. Anthropic expanded its influence among developers and corporate clients by unveiling the AI agent Claude CoWork, which independently performs multistep tasks, early this year after its coding tool Claude Code. More recently, it has been building a presence among general users rather than only corporations.
By contrast, new ChatGPT users increased by only 160,000 (1%) in the same period. ChatGPT remains the No. 1 Generative AI app in Korea by total users, but its growth rate is slowing.
