Kakao Impact Foundation, Kakao's corporate foundation, said on May 4 it will launch the "2026 visiting senior digital school."
The "visiting senior digital school" is an ESG (environmental, social and governance) program Kakao has run since 2024 with the Korea Association of Senior Welfare Centers and the Senior Financial Education Council to improve seniors' digital accessibility.
This year's education targets about 3,000 people at 150 senior institutions nationwide. The curriculum covers how to use KakaoTalk, Kakao Map and Kakao T, how to use public services, how to use Kakao Pay, and how to prevent financial fraud. In particular, this year adds AI usage training such as "ChatGPT for Kakao" to the existing basic digital education. It also allows seniors to experience AI firsthand through the participatory program "AI Golden Bell."
This year's senior digital school will be taught on-site by 120 senior teachers from across the country. Senior teachers are professionals with capabilities in AI and digital education.
Ryu Seok-young, chair of Kakao Impact Foundation, said, "We will continue various efforts to help older adults use AI more easily and more familiarly, and to contribute to realizing AI for everyone."
