At its first-quarter 2026 earnings conference call held on the 30th, Samsung Electronics said regarding its physical AI-based robotics business, "Over the past year, led by Oh Jun-ho, head of the Future Robotics Task Force at Samsung Electronics, we have achieved technological advances and established a foundation to catch up with leading companies."
It added, "While promoting in-house production of core robot components, we are also securing capabilities to develop custom components," and "thanks to advances in technologies such as physical AI, the feasibility of the robotics business is increasing."
It also said, "We are pursuing innovation in manufacturing productivity, and we plan to first develop manufacturing robots and then expand into the home and retail sectors based on the accumulated technology."
In addition, it added, "To advance our technology, we will focus on securing in-house capabilities while simultaneously pursuing a two-track strategy of collaborating with competitive domestic corporations, and we plan to actively consider investment and acquisitions when necessary."
