Samsung Electro-Mechanics is developing a camera module for Humanoid Robot.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics said at the 2026 first-quarter earnings conference call held on the 30th, "We are working with major global Humanoid Robot clients to develop a high-resolution recognition module," and added, "We will also preemptively secure small and thin camera technologies for precise object grasping and push to gain an early lead in the Humanoid market."
On the camera module business, it said, "There was an impact from weaker global smartphone demand due to higher memory semiconductor prices, but demand related to us increased from the previous quarter thanks to the launch of a new flagship by a strategic customer." On automotive cameras, it said, "There was an impact from lower demand for finished cars, but our related demand increased thanks to higher supply volumes to key customers and the mass production of new models."
While forecasting a slowdown in demand for IT cameras in the second quarter, Samsung Electro-Mechanics said, "We will proceed without setbacks with the initial supply of camera modules for a strategic customer set to launch new products in the third quarter and for global customers."
