Kakao Entertainment said on the 29th that it will adapt "The Forgotten Field," a new web novel by writer Kim Su-ji of the hit intellectual property (IP) "Under the oak tree," into a webtoon and release it.
The webtoon "The Forgotten Field" will be released on KakaoPage and Kakao Webtoon on May 5. The original web novel "The Forgotten Field" depicts the fated romance between two characters: the ill-fated imperial princess Talia Roem Guirta and the eastern noble Varkas Laedgo Siorcan.
The original is a new work by writer Kim Su-ji released in May last year, and since launch it gained popularity to the point of ranking No. 1 among new KakaoPage web novels in both new viewers and purchasers. The cumulative views total about 20 million.
Spoon, a creator with a strong fandom among romance readers, handled the adaptation and art. A Kakao Entertainment official said, "For the webtoon, we worked hard to convincingly portray the protagonists' complex and delicate psychology through comic techniques," adding, "We meticulously designed everything down to the slightest wavering of their eyes and even the breathing intervals of the characters to suit the vertical scroll format."
