Samsung Electronics said on the 28th that it won 16 main awards at the Red Dot Design Award 2026, including two Best of the Best prizes, the top honor.
The Red Dot Design Award began in 1955 under the auspices of the Design Center North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany and has now established itself as a globally prestigious international design award. Winners are selected through various evaluation items and criteria, including functionality, aesthetics, innovation and sustainability. The awards are divided into three categories: product design, design concept, and brand and communication.
All 16 designs that Samsung Electronics submitted in the product design category won main awards. It was recognized for excellence by reflecting Expressive Design, a new people-centered design methodology.
Mauro Porcini, president and chief design officer of Samsung Electronics' DX division, said, "We pursue design that reflects people's identities, emotions and diversity," and added, "We will continue to enrich people's lives with design that goes beyond implementing functions to have meaningful connections and purpose."
Samsung Electronics won the top award in the product design category with its OLED (organic light-emitting diode) TV S95H and the Bespoke AI laundry appliance series. The S95H applied a silver metal frame on the front, creating a design in which the ultra-slim OLED screen appears to float above the body, leading to the win. The Bespoke AI laundry appliance series won the top award after earning praise for applying a unified design while highlighting each product's unique characteristics.
