Samsung SDS and LG CNS said on the 27th that they secured sales authorization to provide the "ChatGPT Edu" product to educational institutions.
ChatGPT Edu is a ChatGPT service dedicated to educational institutions such as schools and publishers, supporting a range of on-campus tasks including generating lecture materials, organizing research materials and reports, and personalized tutoring. It is designed so that conversations and responses exchanged within the service are not used as AI training data, strengthening data privacy and security.
OpenAI designed ChatGPT Edu based on experience using ChatGPT Enterprise at major global universities, and it is currently in use at the University of Oxford, the University of London, the Wharton School, and the National University of Singapore, among others.
Samsung SDS and LG CNS plan to use this collaboration to expand the service in earnest to educational institutions such as schools and publishers that want to introduce Generative AI in education and research.
Samsung SDS is already conducting a proof of concept (PoC) to provide ChatGPT Edu services to Korea National Open University. The two companies plan to discuss adoption later. LG CNS will sequentially run a ChatGPT Edu introduction tour program for major universities in the capital area and also operate AI education seminars.
Lee Jeong-heon, executive vice president and head of strategic marketing at Samsung SDS, said, "Based on ongoing collaboration with OpenAI, Samsung SDS will strengthen its role as an AX partner that goes beyond a simple reseller to design, scale, and support AI operating systems for corporations."
Kim Tae-hoon, executive vice president and head of the AI Cloud Business Unit at LG CNS, also said, "While we have rapidly expanded customer use cases and built results through the ChatGPT Enterprise business, we have now signed a reseller agreement for ChatGPT Edu, expanding our business into the education AX field," adding, "We will support more students and educational institutions to use AI to increase productivity in learning and research."
