SK Telecom said on the 27th it will introduce a "family care" feature in the adot phone that alerts a registered guardian to a risky situation when a suspicious voice phishing currency is detected.
Family care is a feature that sends an immediate alert to a pre-registered guardian when AI detects signs of suspicious voice phishing during a currency. Guardians can receive alerts regardless of whether the adot phone is installed or which carrier they use. Those who have the adot phone installed receive both push alerts and text messages, while those without it are guided by text.
Users can register up to 10 guardians. SK Telecom users see their family bundle list first, making it easy to register family members, and they can also register non-family acquaintances. To use the feature, users must agree to provide personal information to third parties and turn on the AI voice phishing detection feature.
The industry views the response to voice phishing as expanding from individual blocking to a safety net involving family and acquaintances. In particular, it is seen as helpful in preventing harm to older adults and those vulnerable in the digital environment.
In the first quarter of this year, the adot phone blocked about 35.62 million incoming voice phishing and spam with "AI safe block." At the currency reception stage, it provided caution alerts for about 3.47 million cases.
Cho Hyeon-deok, who is in charge of the adot phone at SK Telecom, said, "We introduced the feature with the idea that family and technology should together serve as a shield."
