Samsung SDS said on the 27th that it has secured the right to sell OpenAI's education-focused artificial intelligence (AI) solution "ChatGPT Edu."
Samsung SDS plans to use this partnership to expand services to schools, publishers, and educational institutions that want to introduce generative artificial intelligence (AI) in education and research. It is currently conducting a proof of concept (PoC) to provide the ChatGPT Edu service to Korea National Open University, which has about 90,000 students, professors, and staff.
ChatGPT Edu is a service offered to education-related institutions such as schools and publishers. It strengthens data privacy and security so that conversations and responses exchanged between teachers and students are not used as AI training data. Using the latest GPT-5 model, it offers a range of features, including text comprehension and generation, coding, data analysis, web browsing, document summarization, and customized chatbot creation.
OpenAI said it designed ChatGPT Edu based on experience using ChatGPT Enterprise at major global universities. It is currently being used at Oxford University, the University of London, the Wharton School, and the National University of Singapore, among others.
Previously, in December last year, Samsung SDS became the first in Korea to sign a reseller partnership with OpenAI, and following enterprise, it aims to strengthen collaboration with OpenAI in education as well to support the AX (AI transformation) of domestic corporations.
Lee Jeong-heon, head of strategic marketing at Samsung SDS (executive vice president), said, "Through ChatGPT Edu, we expect to establish an environment where Generative AI can be used more safely in the field of education and for the user experience to spread quickly," adding, "Going forward, based on continued collaboration with OpenAI, we will strengthen our role as an AX partner that designs, scales, and supports corporate AI operating systems."
