SK hynix said on the 26th that it received the Corporate Innovation Award at the 2026 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Awards ceremony held in New York on the 24th local time.
The Corporate Innovation Award, a merit award, has been given since 1986 to corporations that contributed to industrial and social development with innovative technology, and this is the first time SK hynix has received the award.
IEEE is the world's most prestigious group of technology professionals and pursues technological innovation for the advancement of humanity. The "IEEE Awards," hosted by IEEE, is a ceremony with a history of more than 100 years that selects honorees for technological innovation and social progress across three institutional sector categories: medals, technical field awards, and recognitions.
SK hynix said, "We were recognized for stably mass-producing every generation of HBM and contributing to the activation of the global AI computing ecosystem," and added, "We will establish ourselves as a trusted partner in the global AI market by providing decisive memory solutions that overcome the performance limits of AI platforms."
It added, "This award recognizes our contributions to driving the spread of AI computing through HBM innovation and applications, and our proactive presentation of innovative HBM solutions in the global AI market and timely response to customer demand were decisive."
There is also an assessment that, under the management philosophy of SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, who has emphasized securing technological competitiveness from a long-term perspective, the steady expansion of AI infrastructure partnerships with global Big Tech companies in the United States laid the groundwork for this award.
Meanwhile, Ahn Hyun, president and chief development officer (CDO), attended the ceremony as the company's representative to accept the award. Ahn said, "By working closely with global customers and partners to create the value the market demands ahead of others, we will become a leading corporations driving AI innovation."
