Samsung began its first-half open hiring process by administering the Global Samsung Aptitude Test (GSAT), known as the "Samsung exam."
Samsung said on the 26th that it administered the GSAT to job applicants over two days from the 25th to the 26th. The GSAT is considered the first hurdle that screens the basic competencies of open recruitment applicants.
The participating affiliates are 18 companies, including Samsung Electronics, Samsung Display, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Samsung SDI, Samsung SDS, Samsung Biologics, Samsung Bioepis, Samsung C&T, Samsung Heavy Industries, Samsung E&A, Samsung Life Insurance, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, Samsung Securities, Samsung Asset Management, Cheil Worldwide, Samsung Global Research, S-1, and Samsung Welstory.
Samsung is proceeding with its first-half open hiring process starting with application submissions in Mar., and plans to make final selections of new employees after interviews and health checkups following the GSAT.
The GSAT is an assessment to select talent with creative thinking and flexible problem-solving skills. It was introduced in the second half of 1995 for open hiring and, spurred by the COVID-19 pandemic, has been conducted online since 2020.
Among the four major groups, Samsung is the only one maintaining an open recruitment system. Samsung introduced Korea's first open recruitment for new employees in 1957 and has maintained the system for 70 years, the longest record among domestic corporations.
Previously, Samsung announced a plan to hire 60,000 people over five years. Samsung's regularly held open recruitment in the first and second halves each year is regarded by young job seekers as a large-scale employment opportunity that can be anticipated year-round.
