Data storage company Seagate Technology Holdings said on the 24th it has released new consumer and professional storage products under the Seagate, FireCuda, and LaCie brands.
The new products are the Seagate One Touch desktop external hard drive, the Seagate FireCuda X Vault hard drive, and the LaCie 8big Pro5 multi-bay RAID (a method of linking multiple storage devices to increase capacity, speed, and stability) storage. Suggested retail prices start at 499,000 won for the Seagate One Touch, 529,000 won for the FireCuda X Vault, and 9.95 million won for the LaCie 8big Pro5.
Seagate said the amount of data handled by individuals and creators is growing quickly with the spread of high-resolution photos and videos, large game libraries, and artificial intelligence (AI) content production. The lineup supports up to 256 terabytes (TB) of capacity and offers backup, monitoring, and data recovery features.
The Seagate One Touch desktop external hard drive is a personal backup product. It comes in 8TB, 20TB, and 24TB capacities. It uses a bus-powered design that handles both data transfer and power delivery through a single USB-C cable. No separate power adapter is needed, and it can be used with Windows and Mac. The Seagate Toolkit automatic backup software and a data recovery service are also included.
The FireCuda X Vault is a high-capacity desktop storage device aimed at gamers and streamers. It is available in 8TB and 20TB capacities. Like the One Touch, it uses a USB-C bus-powered design. It complements an internal NVMe (high-speed storage interface) drive and is suitable for storing game libraries, gameplay videos, and streaming content.
The LaCie 8big Pro5 is a professional RAID storage system for video creators and creative teams. It comes in 32TB, 64TB, 128TB, 192TB, and 256TB capacities. It is designed for multi-stream 4K and 8K video, RAW (minimally compressed original image) files, and AI-based production work.
The LaCie 8big Pro5 supports Thunderbolt 5 (a high-speed data transfer standard). Its transfer bandwidth is up to 120 gigabits per second (Gbps), and performance is up to 2,800 megabytes per second (MB/s) in RAID 0. It can supply up to 140 watts (W) of power to a laptop.
Lance Ohara, Seagate vice president of the Edge Internet of Things (IoT), said, "Personal data is growing faster and being stored longer due to AI-based creation, large-scale game libraries, and personal photos and videos," adding, "There is a growing need for storage that is easy to use and highly scalable."
