LG Display will invest more than 1 trillion won in new organic light-emitting diode (OLED) facilities.
LG Display said on the 22nd that it decided to invest a total of 1.106 trillion won in an "OLED new-technology infrastructure." It specified the investment purpose as "strengthening technological competitiveness and the growth base through the advancement of OLED technology." The investment period runs from that day through June 30, 2028.
The company held a board meeting that day and resolved the new investment. It aims to continue investing to strengthen competitiveness in OLED, designated as a national advanced strategic technology, and to create customer value and preoccupy future markets through technological differentiation.
LG Display released an OLED investment worth 1.26 trillion won in June last year. The company said, "Through this investment, we will continue to push the advancement of a business structure centered on OLED," and "We plan to focus our capabilities on solidifying technology leadership and strengthening future growth drivers."
