Line Games said on the 17th that it appointed current CEO Cho Dong-hyun and former chief strategy officer (CSO) Bae Young-jin as new co-CEOs.
A Line Games official said, "Through this co-CEO system, we will focus on strengthening organizational capabilities so we can raise the global competitiveness of our game business and respond more swiftly to the changing market environment." The company plans to ramp up a multi-title system and increase the share of PC games aimed at overseas markets.
Specifically, this year it plans to unveil more than three new PC titles, led by "Ember and Blade." In the mobile institutional sector, it will launch "Uncharted Waters Origin" in China and release "The War of Genesis Mobile" in the global market.
It will also speed up its mobile multi-title strategy that began with "Fairy Tale Quest" and "Animal Busters." The goal is to steadily roll out a variety of new titles without leaning toward a particular genre.
Co-CEO Cho Dong-hyun graduated from the Department of Electrical Engineering at Seoul National University, served as head of development and head of new business at Nexon Korea, and founded the game developer SuperAwesome in 2014. He later joined Line Games in 2023 as chief operating officer (COO). Recognized for leading the launch and market establishment of "The War of Genesis Mobile," Cho was appointed co-CEO in Mar. 2024.
New co-CEO Bae Young-jin is an investment expert who graduated from the Department of Business Administration at Seoul National University and worked at PIA Private Equity (PE) and the Nexon investment office. Bae has experience founding the game company Mobile Factory and served as chief financial officer (CFO) and CSO at Line Games through 2023.
