KT said on the 12th that Chief Executive Park Yun-young visited the KT International Telecommunications Center in Busan and inspected the communications infrastructure.
On the 10th, Park visited the Busan KT International Telecommunications Center, inspected the communications infrastructure that connects to major continents and countries around the world, and encouraged employees.
The Busan KT International Telecommunications Center is a cable landing station that handles most international internet traffic. A cable landing station is a communications gateway facility that brings international submarine cables ashore and connects them to domestic networks and data infrastructure.
KT currently operates five submarine cables, the largest number among domestic telecommunications carriers, and uses them to monitor the equipment at Asian countries' cable landing stations and the condition of the submarine cables.
Park said, "For Korea to become Asia's artificial intelligence (AI) hub, it is very important to operate international submarine cables stably," adding, "KT International Telecommunications Center is the gateway that handles increasing data traffic in the AI era and the aorta of global data communications."
