Hong Ra-hee, honorary director of the Leeum Museum of Art, will finish paying inheritance taxes by selling about 3 trillion won worth of Samsung Electronics shares.
According to the financial investment industry on the 9th, Hong, the honorary director, is said to have sold 15 million Samsung Electronics shares (0.25% equity) in an after-hours block deal this morning. The sale price was 205,237 won, applying a 2.5% discount to the previous day's closing price of 210,500 won, for aggregates of about 3.08 trillion won.
After this sale, Hong's equity stake in Samsung Electronics fell to 1.24% from 1.49%. This equity sale was carried out to make the final payment of the 12 trillion won inheritance tax that has been paid in installments since the death of the late Lee Kun-hee, former Samsung chairman.
Earlier, in Jan., Hong signed a trust contract with Shinhan Bank for the disposal of marketable securities. The Samsung owner family has been paying taxes in six installments over five years since 2021 through the deferred installment method, and the final inheritance tax payment is expected to be completed this month.
