LG Electronics has obtained certification for excellence in in-vehicle (automotive electronic and electrical equipment) parts from Toyota, Japan's largest automaker. The base of the in-vehicle business that LG Electronics is fostering as a new growth engine is likely to broaden.
According to LG Electronics on Apr. 9, the VS Business Division, which oversees the in-vehicle business at LG Electronics, recently received the "2025 Quality Performance Achievement" certification from Toyota. It was reported to have proven the reliability of the data communication module (DCM), which supports connected vehicle services such as real-time data transmission, remote diagnostics, and over-the-air (OTA) updates among automotive parts.
Regarding the certification, LG Electronics said, "We maintained stable supply without compromising on quality and delivered the essential level of reliability," and added, "We will further advance connectivity solutions to support next-generation intelligent mobility."
LG Electronics has maintained an ongoing partnership with Toyota since it began supplying navigation boxes in 2011. Since 2019, it has strengthened the relationship by expanding the supply of advanced telematics (in-vehicle communication module) solutions, focusing on North America, a core market that accounts for 30% of Toyota's total sales.
