Intel has appointed Santhosh Viswanathan as head of the Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ) region.
Intel said on Apr. 7 that it appointed Viswanathan, head of India, as head of the APJ region. As a result, he will expand his remit beyond the India market to cover Asia-Pacific and all of Japan, overseeing the region's overall business, brand, and key account management under a unified leadership structure.
As APJ head, Viswanathan will lead business expansion and stronger collaboration with customers and partners in one of Intel's fastest-growing regions. As semiconductor demand increases and the strategic importance of the Asian market grows, bolstering execution in the region is emerging as a core task.
He said, "The Asia-Pacific region is one of the most diverse and fastest-growing markets in the world," and added, "We will work closely with our team, customers, and partners to identify new opportunities and drive growth."
Viswanathan, who has more than 20 years of global experience, most recently served as Intel India head, contributing to making the local market a key growth pillar.
Before that, he led the businesses in Southeast Asia and Australia/New Zealand, and at the U.S. headquarters he was responsible for global sales operations strategy. This appointment is seen as part of Intel's organizational reshuffle to strengthen its push into the Asian market, a strategy aimed at securing growth drivers through integrated regional leadership.
