NAVER said on the 7th it will end its "related searches" service after about 19 years.
NAVER said through the company-run "NAVER Search Blog" on the 6th that "the related searches service provided at the top of the integrated search results will end after Apr. 30."
NAVER introduced the "related searches" service in 2007, 19 years ago. It is a service that displays at the top words likely to be searched together with the keyword users entered.
However, as the company has strengthened its artificial intelligence (AI) business, NAVER unveiled the AI-based search service "AI Briefing" last year. Also, in September last year, it introduced an AI-based search term suggestion service that can replace the related searches function.
NAVER explained, "Since last year, to expand search experiences based on AI technology in earnest, we have advanced the 'AI Briefing' service that summarizes search results and the 'related questions' service that expands exploration, and unveiled an AI-based search term suggestion service, striving to provide search experiences suitable for users' intent and context."
It added, "As part of this initiative, NAVER will further strengthen the combination of AI and search this year and do its utmost to provide a richer and more reliable search experience."
