LG Electronics said on the 5th that the recent global cumulative sales of its clothing-care appliance "LG Styler Objet Collection" have surpassed 2 million units.
Since its first launch in 2011, the LG Styler reached cumulative sales of 1 million units in 2021, 10 years later. It has surpassed 2 million in five years, continuing steep growth. The company said, "The LG Styler pioneered a new market for clothing-care appliances," adding, "It has led changes in customers' lifestyles and established itself as an 'essential appliance.'"
LG Electronics expanded overseas sales starting in 2016 in the United States, China and Taiwan, and now sells the LG Styler in 27 countries worldwide. By region, growth in the Asian and North American markets stands out. As of 2025, sales in China, Taiwan and the United States grew more than 30% from the previous year. In Asia, demand has been driven by a culture of frequently wearing clothing that is hard to wash daily, such as school uniforms and suits, along with high interest in hygiene and cleanliness.
LG Electronics holds more than 200 patents, including for "TrueSteam" and "Moving Hanger," based on technologies such as motors, compressors and steam generators. TrueSteam sprays high-temperature steam generated by boiling water to sterilize up to 99.99% of 10 types of harmful bacteria and 11 types of viruses, and to remove bedbugs and house dust mites. It deodorizes more than 99% of 18 types of everyday odors such as sweat, cigarette smoke and food smells.
The Moving Hanger shakes clothing left and right to remove dust and deliver steam evenly. Starting in 2024, the product adopted the "Dynamic Moving Hanger," which spins in place up to 350 times per minute while shaking.
Starting with the 2026 models, artificial intelligence (AI) features have been applied. Using the "AI Styling" course, AI learns and analyzes clothing weight data to propose optimal styling. By adjusting steam volume and temperature, it provides customized care of about 29 minutes for shirts, about 39 minutes for sweatshirts or jackets, and up to 53 minutes for long coats or padded jackets. It is also equipped with a handy high-pressure steamer so users can directly treat desired areas. More delicate clothing care is possible, such as easily removing wrinkles before going out.
Sales are also growing rapidly in the business-to-business (B2B) market. Adoption is expanding mainly among apartment builders, hotels and resorts. In Taiwan, properties such as the Shangri-La Far Eastern Plaza Hotel and the Tai Urban Resort are using it as a premium service.
Son Chang-woo, head of the Living Solution Business Unit at LG Electronics, said, "By adding AI to our core component technologies, we will provide customers with a differentiated clothing-care experience and further solidify our leadership in the global market."
