Global AR glasses market leader XREAL, a corporations, on the 1st officially launched in Korea its new product XREAL 1S, equipped with its independently developed dedicated processor, the X1 chip.
The key to this product is that the glasses alone implement native 2D-to-3D real-time conversion and native 3DoF. Unlike existing AR glasses that relied on external devices or separate apps, the main functions are handled by the device itself, which XREAL said provides a more complete AR experience.
The most noteworthy feature is native 3DoF. Even when the user moves their head, the screen stays fixed in space, and immersion is enhanced with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 3 ms ultra-low latency performance. In addition, the X1 chip supports a function that analyzes 2D video in real time and converts it to 3D. Without purchasing separate 3D content, users can watch existing 2D videos with a sense of depth.
Ease of use has also been enhanced. Through the OSD (On-Screen Display) menu, users can directly control brightness, screen mode, screen size, electrochromic dimming, 3D conversion, and refresh rate on the glasses. The display uses Sony's 0.68-inch micro-OLED panel, supporting 1200p resolution and 700 nits of brightness. The field of view is 52 degrees, and switching to ultrawide screens of 16:18, 21:9, and 32:9 is also possible. Audio was developed in collaboration with Bose.
The weight is 82 g to reduce fatigue during long wear, and an interpupillary distance (IPD) adjustment function is included. XREAL will begin sales on the official Naver Smart Store mall from the 1st, and then plans to expand distribution channels to Coupang and Toss Shopping. To commemorate the launch, a promotion will be held through the 8th to give purchasers an XREAL HUB. The domestic retail price is 680,000 won.
