Okestro Cloud said on Apr. 1 that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Gwangju Metropolitan City to build an artificial intelligence (AI) industrial ecosystem.
Okestro Cloud held the signing ceremony on Mar. 31 in the business room at Gwangju Metropolitan City Hall. The agreement was prepared to create a region-centered AI industrial ecosystem in connection with projects promoted by Gwangju Metropolitan City, including the AI industry cluster, a demonstration center, and the construction of an NPU computing center.
Through the agreement, the two sides will cooperate in various fields, including building an AI industrial ecosystem, developing and commercializing cloud and AI technologies, training professionals and creating jobs, and linking support programs for corporations.
Okestro Cloud, as an infrastructure operations partner supporting cloud services and a transition to Cloud-Native, plans to carry out technology development and commercialization, provide policy advice, and support talent development and job creation by operating an office in the region.
Gwangju Metropolitan City plans to strengthen the foundation of the regional AI industry by operating support programs for corporations, providing training to cultivate professionals in cloud and artificial intelligence (AI), and offering employment-linked programs.
In addition, the two sides plan to work with local universities and corporations to identify AI and cloud-related business opportunities and establish a base for industry diffusion. Through cooperation with Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), Chonnam National University, and Chosun University, they will also promote talent development and technology diffusion.
Park So-ah, CEO of Okestro Cloud, said, "Through this agreement, we have secured a foundation to combine cloud infrastructure and AI technological capabilities in connection with the AI industry foundation promoted by Gwangju Metropolitan City," adding, "Based on technology development and talent cultivation linked to local industries, we will expand the Gwangju AI industrial ecosystem and build a foundation for expanding AI use in industrial settings."
