Naver Webtoon said on Apr. 1 that it replaced thumbnails for series in the service with an "SNS explore tab" concept to mark April Fools' Day 2026.
The event is characterized by changing thumbnails for about 900 ongoing series to a layout that reflects a popular SNS interface and mobile content trends. By expressing each work's core setup in witty phrases, it offers users a new experience as if they were exploring an SNS feed.
For example, the webtoon "ShaMONEYism" switched from its original thumbnail to an SNS-style post featuring the phrase "I did it!! My stocks skyrocketed!!" This lets users feel as if they are viewing a buzzworthy post on the webtoon home screen.
The thumbnail swap event runs until 11:59 p.m. on Apr. 2, and at the bottom of the latest free episodes of about 500 series, April Fools' Day special cuts created directly by the authors will also be released.
The special cuts were produced under the concept "What if the characters used SNS," and are composed as fictional accounts and posts that reflect each character's individuality. The content will be available to view until 10 p.m. on Apr. 7.
In addition, more than 400 special cuts will be produced as short-form videos and released on Naver Webtoon's short animation UGC (User Generated Content) service "Cuts." This allows users to enjoy their favorite works in video form as well.
