LG Display said on Apr. 1 that Executive Director Jeon Jong-seok received a presidential commendation at the "53rd Commerce Day" ceremony held on Mar. 31 at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Commerce Day is an event established to encourage businesspeople and workers who have contributed to national economic development and stronger industrial competitiveness, with government commendations awarded each year.
Jeon was recognized for expanding supplies of high value-added small and mid-sized organic light-emitting diodes (OLED) to major global customers and broadening the customer base for large OLEDs. In particular, Jeon is credited with helping strengthen the competitiveness of domestic corporations in the premium TV market.
Jeon joined LG.Philips LCD (now LG Display) in 2000 and has worked in the display industry for about 26 years. Jeon has handled sales and marketing across all business areas, including mobile, information technology (IT), and TV, contributing to customer base expansion and business growth.
LG Display said the award reflects recognition that the company contributed to strengthening national industrial competitiveness through a business structure shift centered on OLEDs and a strategy to expand in global markets.
Jeon said, "I am honored to be able to contribute to the development of Korea's display industry, which is leading the global market," adding, "I will continue to deliver new value to customers with differentiated products and technologies and work to enhance the standing of the display industry."
