"Let's all vigorously build KT's new future as an "AX (AI transition) platform corporations" that achieves "certain growth" on top of a "solid essence.""
Park Yoon-young, KT chief executive officer, after being officially appointed at the regular shareholders meeting on the 31st, told employees in an email titled "Toward an 'AX platform corporations' that achieves certain growth on top of a solid essence," saying, "Starting today, I have taken on a heavy responsibility as KT's chief executive officer." Regarding greeting employees by email instead of an inauguration ceremony, Park said, "I wanted to show you through speed and execution rather than words and form," adding, "Starting today, I will visit sites one by one, beginning with information security and network sites, to meet you in person."
Park emphasized that in the midst of change, he intends to clarify KT's identity and role once again. Putting forward "AX platform corporations" as the keyword, Park said, "I will develop KT into the national key telecommunications carrier responsible for the present and future of Korea's network and into a corporations that leads the AI era." Park added, "2026 will be the starting point for the transition to an AX platform corporations, and the next three years will be the time to prove with results that the direction was right," noting, "The two pillars that will drive this change are 'solid essence' and 'certain growth.'"
On solid essence, Park said, "A network that customers can trust, stable service quality, and airtight information security are KT's reason for being," adding, "In this area, we will make no compromises and will not spare the necessary investments." Park said security governance and operating systems will be refined more tightly, and IT and network infrastructure will also be rechecked from the ground up. In addition, Park said KT will raise both stability and efficiency through operating innovation based on AI and Cloud-Native, and further elevate the quality customers feel. KT will also proactively prepare for and lead future technologies such as 6G (sixth-generation mobile communications), satellites, AI-RAN, and quantum security.
On certain growth, Park said, "In the B2C (business-to-consumer transaction) domain, we will evolve beyond simple communications into lifestyle AI services that permeate customers' daily lives," adding, "Through AX transition of hyper-personalized services and media and content, we will reset the standard for customer experience and strengthen customized services that understand and propose customers' lifestyles first."
On the B2B (business-to-business transaction) domain, Park's strength, Park said, "We will strengthen 'B2B AX' that practically solves problems on industrial sites such as the public sector, finance, and manufacturing," adding, "We will create a business model that takes responsibility from consulting to operations, and expand KT's internal innovation experience into a success model that can be repeatedly reproduced." Park continued, "In addition, in new growth areas such as AIDC (data centers), global AX, and digital financial platforms, we will nurture them as core drivers to lead the future through strategic investments."
Park said, "The environment surrounding the core telecommunications business is becoming increasingly difficult, and our responsibility for security, networks, and quality has become heavier than ever," adding, "AI transition is rapidly changing the order of industries and the very way corporations exist, and KT is facing a challenge that is by no means light."
Park noted that at the center of every change there are always "people." Park said, "We will define KT's core value as 'KT Professionalism' and make it the standard for all decision-making and actions," adding, "A culture that puts customers first, respects colleagues, takes responsibility to the end for assigned work, and produces results based on expertise must take firm root within KT."
As an "orthodox KT man" who understands KT well, Park pledged to further strengthen what KT has done well and to clearly resolve one by one the concerns and tasks accumulated over time. Park said, "Having worked at KT with you for a long time, I know better than anyone the underlying strength and achievements with which KT has led Korea's telecommunications industry in key business areas such as wired and wireless communications, IPTV, and B2B (business-to-business transaction)," adding, "However, amid a rapidly changing market environment, while we have each done our best in our respective positions, we have also experienced regretful moments when unseen efforts and achievements were not sufficiently recognized due to the speed of decision-making or structural constraints."
