NHN said on the 30th that it opened guardian spirit content in the mobile game "Hangame Seotda & Matgo."
The newly introduced guardian spirit is a companion feature that provides various benefits during gameplay, and anyone can summon one upon reaching a certain rank (Apprentice II) in the ranking match. Based on three animal types—cat, dog, and rabbit—it is offered in various appearances by combining patterns and colors.
Guardian spirits are organized into four tiers from lower to special, and from intermediate and above they have abilities such as providing additional points and accruing jeon under certain conditions. Setting a representative guardian spirit provides practical benefits in gameplay, and it also supports a bonding feature that allows users to offer tributes and receive gifts.
NHN is holding an event through Apr. 19 to mark this update. Depending on the cumulative number of guardian spirit summons, it will grant growth materials and jeon, and it will provide 1 billion jeon to all users who reach the maximum level of a special-tier guardian spirit. Among them, 30 users will each receive an additional 10 billion jeon through a drawing.
Choi Young-du, head of NHN's Mobile Webboard Business Group, said, "The guardian spirit is content planned to bring new fun and benefits by incorporating pet elements into webboard games," adding, "We will continue to expand content so that users can enjoy a richer gaming experience."
