Powered by the spread of generative artificial intelligence (AI), Korea's cloud market surpassed 9 trillion won in revenue for the first time last year.
According to the "2025 cloud industry survey" released on the 30th by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA), total revenue in Korea's cloud institutional sector in 2024 was 9.2609 trillion won, up 25.2% from 7.4 trillion won a year earlier.
This outpaces the 23.2% compound annual growth rate over the past five years. By service type, cloud management services (CMS/MSP) rose 31.4%, the highest growth rate.
Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) increased 24.4%, software as a service (SaaS) 24.2%, and platform as a service (PaaS) 22.0%. The number of cloud corporations was 2,712, up 13.5% from the previous year. Among them, SaaS corporations totaled 1,894, a 15.3% increase, accounting for 69.8% of the total. CMS corporations surged to 139, up 47.9%, with 77.8% of the increase coming from corporations with 30 or more employees, indicating a trend toward industry scaling.
Total cloud personnel reached 33,217, up 8.4%, and by role, developers were the largest group at 33.6%. The Ministry of Science and ICT said it plans to support market growth by building a national AI computing center, providing GPU support, and pursuing an independent AI foundation model project.
