LG Electronics said on the 29th it will expand content for senior customers, including letting them practice using kiosks on LG Easy TV before visiting a store.
LG Electronics recently partnered with smart care corporations CareU to introduce the "CareU" service on LG Easy TV, a lifestyle TV tailored for seniors, allowing users to practice kiosk ordering.
LG Electronics said it was inspired by customer feedback that senior customers using kiosks installed in the market struggle due to complex screen layouts and unfamiliar payment procedures.
In fact, according to the "2023 Elderly Status Survey" released by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the share of people age 65 and older who answered that they can use kiosks to place orders and check in is 17.9%.
The CareU service recreates three everyday kiosk-use settings—burger shops, cafes, and food courts—so users can learn how to use kiosks in various situations as if in real life. For example, it shows a scenario of ordering by kiosk at a burger shop on the screen and provides a service that lets users experience the process firsthand, from choosing food to payment.
LG Electronics has also loaded brain health games that senior customers can enjoy not only on LG Easy TV but also on StanbyME 2 and StanbyME Go. LG Electronics plans to gradually expand LG Buddy and the brain health games to other LG smart TVs.
Baek Sun-pil, head of Display CX at LG Electronics, said, "We will continue to expand TV products and services tailored to diverse customer lifestyles, such as finding and broadening services for seniors and their families like kiosk practice."
