Jeong Woo-jin, CEO of NHN, said on the 26th, "This year, we expect the game business to continue top-line growth on the back of eased regulations related to web board games and the launch of anticipated new titles."
Jeong stated accordingly at the annual shareholders meeting held at the Pangyo Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy and Innovation. That day, NHN confirmed Jeong's reappointment as an inside director, entering a fourth consecutive term. Jeong has been a long-serving chief executive officer (CEO) who has led the company for more than 12 years since 2014.
In his greeting at the shareholders meeting, Jeong said, "Last year was a year in which NHN's core businesses—games, payments, and technology—all grew, and companywide management efficiency efforts aligned to produce a clear improvement in profitability."
He then forecast that this year the growth trend of the game business will continue. He said, "The new mobile title Dissidia Duelum Final Fantasy, which leverages the Final Fantasy intellectual property (IP), has shown stable initial results by ranking No. 9 in revenue on Japan's App Store after its global launch on Mar. 24."
Jeong said, "In the technology institutional sector, NHN Cloud, as a cloud service corporations (CSP) with Korea's top-tier technology and experience, will be able to deliver differentiated results in the newly emerging GPU as a service (GPUaaS) market," adding, "We will continue to actively participate in AI projects promoted by the government."
At this shareholders meeting, NHN approved all key agenda items, including the reappointment of outside director Jeong Ji-won, an expert in finance and accounting; a cash dividends payment of 500 won per common share; partial amendments to the articles of incorporation; and approval of the limit on directors' remuneration.
