Moon Hyuk-soo, president and CEO of LG Innotek, met in Germany with Ola Källenius, chair of Mercedes-Benz, to discuss cooperation in the mobility business.
On the 25th, LG Innotek said in a recent LinkedIn post that on the 19th it held "LG Innotek Tech Day 2026" at the Mercedes research and development (R&D) center in Böblingen, Germany.
LG Innotek said, "We had in-depth discussions with Mercedes on future collaboration opportunities and new projects," adding, "Tech Day is a meaningful milestone in strong cooperation and a long-term partnership to drive innovation with Mercedes and shape the future of mobility." Tech Day is LG Innotek's product briefing event, and this was the first Tech Day held solely by LG Innotek.
At the Tech Day held at Mercedes headquarters in Mar. 2024, key affiliates including LG Innotek, LG Electronics, LG Display and LG Energy Solution took part.
Core management attended the event, including President Moon; Yu Byung-guk, head of the Mobility Solutions Business Unit; Noh Seung-won, head of the Optical Solutions Business Unit; and Min Jon, chief technology officer (CTO). From Mercedes, Chair Källenius and CTO Jörg Burzer participated.
At the event, LG Innotek showcased more than 30 mobility products, including sensing solutions such as cameras for advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving (AD), LiDAR, and radar, as well as vehicle communications and lighting.
It also introduced a vision-sensing solution for robots. This is presumed to demonstrate robot technologies applicable to those robots as Mercedes expands production-line automation using robots.
LG Innotek has steadily maintained a cooperative relationship with Mercedes. Along with key affiliates such as LG Electronics, LG Display and LG Energy Solution, LG Innotek met Chair Källenius, who visited Korea in Nov. last year, at the LG Twin Towers in Yeouido to discuss the vehicle solutions business. After the meeting, Chair Källenius told reporters, "LG is one of the partners we naturally turn to whenever Mercedes tries something special and new."
