Webtoon Entertainment, the U.S. headquarters of Naver Webtoon, made the list of Fast Company's 2026 World's Most Innovative corporations.
On the 24th (local time), Fast Company ranked Webtoon Entertainment No. 4 among the 10 most innovative corporations in the media and news institutional sector. Since 2008, Fast Company has selected corporations that build creative business models and innovative cultures and released its World's 50 Most Innovative corporations and rankings by 59 industries and institutional sectors.
The outlet cited as reasons for Webtoon Entertainment's selection its successful creation of a two-way ecosystem that expands webtoons into Hollywood intellectual property (IP) while adapting major global IPs into webtoons, as well as its strong content ecosystem.
As the global stature of webtoons rises, Webtoon Entertainment's IP business is delivering results not only in Korea but also in global markets. The English original webtoon Stagtown is set to be adapted into live action by LuckyChap, the production company founded by actor Margot Robbie. Screen adaptation projects such as Death of a Pop Star, which involves Oscar-winning screenwriter and producer Diablo Cody, are also underway.
In animation, it is collaborating with Crunchyroll, Toei Animation, Aniplex, and Warner Bros. Animation. Recently, Amazon Prime Video confirmed production of an animated series based on the popular English original webtoon Lore Olympus.
Kim Yong-soo, president of Webtoon Entertainment, said, "It is a great honor to be selected once again following 2023," adding, "This achievement recognizes the competitiveness of our IP, which—based on the creator community and a global fandom and built on long-running efforts to expand the digital storytelling ecosystem—is leaping into a next-generation franchise."
