LG Electronics said on the 25th that it won eight excellence awards at Mostra Convegno Expocomfort (MCE) 2026, Europe's largest heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration trade show. The company said the awards "prove the competitiveness of its residential integrated heat pump systems and commercial heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) solutions optimized for the European market."
MCE 2026 runs for four days in Milan, Italy, from the 24th (local time). The MCE Awards are selected by a panel of technical judges who evaluate the exhibits based on ▲ technological innovation (Innovation) ▲ efficiency (Effieiency) ▲ contribution to sustainability and green transition (Transition Goal) ▲ system integration and practicality ▲ completeness of products and solutions.
LG Electronics won multiple awards in air-to-water heat pumps (AWHP), which are commonly used in Europe. AWHP is a heating, cooling and hot water system that uses air as a heat source. Heat from the air drawn in through the outdoor unit causes the compressed refrigerant to release heat and warm water, which then flows from the outdoor unit through the indoor unit and water tank to be used for heating and hot water. LG Electronics won excellence awards for both the outdoor and indoor units.
LG Electronics' AWHP outdoor unit Therma V R290 Monobloc, which won an excellence award, uses R290 refrigerant with a global warming potential (GWP) of just 0.02. The new AWHP indoor units — ▲ control unit ▲ hydro unit ▲ combi unit — also won excellence awards. The heat pump indoor unit connects to the outdoor unit to control home heating and cooling and distribute hot water.
The basic control unit is designed as a simplified standalone product that does not require water pipe connections. The hydro unit integrates key heat pump components such as a backup heater, a three-way (3-way) valve and an expansion tank. The combi unit is an all-in-one product with a built-in 200-liter (ℓ) water tank, suitable for installation where space is relatively limited, such as apartments or new houses, making it difficult to place a separate water tank.
The commercial system air conditioner LG Multi V i and the HVAC control solution LG ACP i, which can conveniently manage multiple air conditioners as one, also received awards. LG Multi V i delivers optimal air conditioning environments in commercial buildings and large facilities where precise temperature management and integrated control are crucial. With a high-efficiency inverter compressor and an AI-based smart control system, it saves energy and uses R32 refrigerant, whose global warming potential is about 30% that of conventional R410A. LG ACP i is a cloud-based central controller that allows real-time monitoring and control; by scanning the QR code shown on its 2.4-inch liquid crystal display (LCD) with a smartphone, users can connect and control immediately without separate settings. In addition, the residential wall-mounted air conditioners ▲ LG Artcool AI ▲ LG Dualcool AI also won excellence awards.
