ATON said on the 25th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Argos Identity, an artificial intelligence (AI)-based global identity verification platform corporations, to cooperate on a "global identity verification and authentication" business.
The agreement centers on combining ATON's post-quantum cryptography (PQC)-based authentication and security technology with Argos' global electronic know your customer (eKYC) technology to build a next-generation integrated authentication service system for foreigners and to pursue joint business targeting financial companies and telecommunications companies.
Earlier, ATON made a strategic investment in Argos in January this year. As non-face-to-face services expand and demand for identity verification and authentication for foreigners surges, ATON judged that Argos' AI technology, specialized in multi-country ID recognition and verification, could create synergy with ATON's authentication capabilities in the financial sector.
This MOU is the first step in full-fledged business cooperation following the strategic investment, and the two companies will work to establish an integrated system that encompasses identity verification and authentication and security.
Hong Jae-yong, ATON's head of finance and authentication business, said, "With the synergy between Argos' AI-based global identity verification technology and ATON's post-quantum cryptography authentication technology, differentiated services with both security and global scalability are possible," adding, "Starting with domestic financial companies and telecommunications companies, we will preoccupy the foreigner authentication market and expand into global markets based on that."
