LG Electronics said on the 24th that the Tromm WashTower, which surpassed 3 million units sold at the end of last year, has recently exceeded 3.2 million units, continuing strong sales.
Since its domestic launch in Apr. 2020, that amounts to more than one unit sold per minute over about six years.
LG WashTower is an innovative product that combines a washer and dryer in a tower configuration, and sales have expanded to 77 countries worldwide, starting with the U.S. market in Sep. 2020.
LG Electronics explained that thanks to high energy efficiency and convenience, LG WashTower is growing rapidly not only in Korea but also in Europe, Central and South America, the Middle East, and Africa.
In fact, LG WashTower, backed by outstanding washing and drying performance and high energy efficiency, was named the top product for two consecutive years last year in the "best washer and dryer set" category by the leading U.S. outlet Forbes.
LG WashTower is about 9 cm lower in height than when installing a drum washer and dryer of the same class one on top of the other. The height from the floor to the center of the dryer door is also a low 148.3 cm, making it convenient even for shorter customers to load and unload laundry or manage the filter.
It also features LG Electronics' differentiated "artificial intelligence (AI) Core Tech." It supports functions such as "AI time sensing," which detects the load and informs users of the estimated end time by cycle in three seconds, and "AI time guidance," which learns usage patterns to provide increasingly accurate estimated drying times the more it is used.
Vice President Baek Seung-tae, head of the HS Business Division at LG Electronics, said, "With LG Electronics' core component technologies and AI, the more convenient LG WashTower will deliver a new clothing care experience to more global customers."
To lead the combined washer-dryer market, LG Electronics also plans to unveil next month a new LG WashTower with a flatter design that removes the detergent drawer handle and further enhances customer convenience.
