Hanwha Vision is joining hands with global artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor corporations Ambarella to develop next-generation video security technologies. The two companies said they plan to strengthen their AI technology competitiveness through ongoing collaboration, starting with this "strategic partnership."
Hanwha Vision and Ambarella signed a "strategic partnership for technology cooperation" on the morning of the 20th at The Plaza in Jung-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by Kim Dong-Sun, executive vice president and head of future vision at Hanwha Vision, and Fermi Wang, CEO of Ambarella, among other senior executives.
Under the agreement, the two companies plan to cooperate on developing AI video security technologies, including next-generation system-on-chip (SoC). By combining Hanwha Vision's advanced image processing technology with Ambarella's AI capabilities, they expect to present customers with a higher-level AI video security solution.
Founded in 2004, Ambarella is a U.S. semiconductor corporations that develops AI processing processors used in security cameras, Autonomous Driving vehicles, robots and drones. Its core architecture, "CVflow," is widely regarded as a top performer in AI video analytics.
Hanwha Vision plans to use this strategic partnership to expand the application of AI technologies beyond video security and further solidify its position in the global market.
Kim Dong-Sun, the executive vice president who led the partnership, said, "We are pleased to partner with Ambarella, which is delivering strong results in the AI Semiconductor market based on its high level of technology," adding, "Let's lead the global market together through continuous technological innovation via diverse collaborations."
Wang said, "It is an honor to collaborate with Hanwha, which is leading the market based on deep understanding and expertise in systems and algorithms," adding, "This partnership will have a significant impact on Ambarella's future growth."
Hanwha Vision explained, "The collaboration between the two companies is also expected to have a positive effect on creating synergies between the tech institutional sector and life institutional sector of Hanwha Group, which is currently pursuing the establishment of a newly created holding company and a spin-off."
The tech institutional sector, including Hanwha Vision, is pursuing ways to apply AI video analytics technologies at life institutional sector sites for ▲ hygiene and safety management ▲ customer pattern analysis. New technologies identified through cross-sector synergies will be applied first to the life institutional sector and then developed into new business models to bring to market.
