Korea's reading platform kt Millie Seojae (hereinafter Millie's library) said on the 20th that it will expand its artificial intelligence (AI) content lineup in partnership with major domestic publishers including Book21 and Dasan Books.
First, it newly added 430 titles from Book21, including "Investing in stocks for progress" and "The psychology of persuasion," and 70 titles from Dasan Books, including "Leverage" and "33 real study methods applicable to every exam," to the AI Dokfarming service. AI Dokfarming is a conversational service that enables reading while interacting with a chatbot. When readers ask questions in real time about things they are curious about while reading, it provides brief answers and a feature that connects to the relevant original page.
The service goes beyond simple information searches to help readers understand a book's context. An analysis of AI Dokfarming user data showed the main user groups were ▲ people in their 30s (35.9%) ▲ 40s (25.4%) ▲ 20s (22.7%) ▲ 50s (10.7%), in that order. A total of 84% of users were in their 20s to 40s.
A Millie's library official said, "With this service expansion, we expect subscribers will be able to read, without burden, books that were lengthy or unfamiliar and thus hard to pick up, through AI Dokfarming."
Millie's library also unveiled an AI persona chatbot service for the "Magic Chinese Character Book" series, a leading Korean children's educational comic. A persona chatbot is a service in which an AI chatbot that reproduces an author's or character's speech and way of thinking communicates as if conversing with readers to deliver information. The "Magic Chinese Character Book" persona chatbot learned the personality and speech style of the protagonist Son Ogong character.
An analysis of "Magic Chinese Character Book" user data showed it is gaining traction mainly among users in their 20s and 30s who experienced the books in childhood. Millie's library will present "grown-up mode" content under the theme "meeting a childhood friend again" to once again move those who grew up with Magic Chinese Character Book.
Grown-up mode is designed around a theme that offers comfort and encouragement by setting up an adult reader, tired from work life, to reunite with the childhood friend Son Ogong. It also includes content that allows users to naturally learn Chinese characters while embarking on adventures with the Son Ogong character.
