LG Electronics said on the 20th it is rolling out a new web service for its AI home platform "LG ThinQ," expanding access to smart homes.
LG Electronics said on the 20th it officially opened the LG ThinQ web service. Users can now log in to their LG ThinQ account not only through the existing smartphone app but also via a PC web browser to check the status of home appliances and control them remotely.
With the introduction of this web service, users can manage appliances regardless of location as long as the environment is connected to the internet. Users can, for example, operate an air conditioner or check the progress of a laundry cycle through a web browser while away from home.
In particular, in the web environment, a dashboard-style user interface (UI) is provided based on a wide screen to check the status of multiple appliances at the same time. This allows users to grasp and control various product statuses at a glance.
These features are useful not only for individual users but also for small-business owners who operate multiple appliances. For example, in cafes or restaurants, staff can view several system air conditioners on one screen and control them individually or all at once, helping manage the store environment.
Along with remote control functions, LG ThinQ also offers management features based on usage data. Users can check product usage history and energy consumption status, and receive guidance on when to replace filters and other product care information.
LG Electronics is also working to enhance the ease of use of LG ThinQ. Reflecting customer feedback that setting up Wi-Fi or scanning QR codes during new appliance purchases is cumbersome, the company simplified the product registration process.
A representative feature is "Ambient Link." When power is connected to a newly purchased LG appliance, products already registered in LG ThinQ automatically recognize the new product and link it to the app.
In addition, after installation, when the installer completes the delivery process, the purchased product is automatically displayed in the LG ThinQ app, and the "add" button is activated to enable one-tap registration through the "easy add service."
LG Electronics is expanding its AI home platform into the B2B sector as well. Recently, it introduced the B2B management solution "LG ThinQ Pro" for the North American market.
LG ThinQ Pro is a built-in appliance and HVAC management solution for both B2B customers and residents. The solution monitors the installation status and condition of appliances and HVAC systems installed in homes. In an integrated management center for a residential complex, staff can view the status of not only individual homes but the entire complex in a dashboard format and manage it systematically.
LG Electronics plans to expand the LG ThinQ web service to about 156 countries globally so more customers can experience a web-based AI home environment.
An LG Electronics official said, "We will continue to advance the LG ThinQ platform to expand AI home experiences that make customers' daily lives more convenient."
