Samsung Electronics said on the 20th it will work with KB Life and KB Golden Life Care on a Digital Healthcare-based senior healthcare business.

Samsung Electronics, KB Life and KB Golden Life Care recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to advance Digital Healthcare services that support safe living for seniors. KB Life, an affiliate of KB Financial Group that operates life insurance, is building a senior life-care platform. KB Golden Life Care, a nursing care subsidiary of KB Life, operates urban nursing facilities in Wirye, Seocho, Eunpyeong, Gwanggyo and Gangdong. To strengthen digital care services, it worked with Samsung Electronics to introduce "SmartThings Pro" and AI home appliances at the Eunpyeong and Gangdong Villages.

The partnership aims to create business synergy by combining ▲ Samsung Electronics' products and technological strength ▲ KB Life's expertise in senior care ▲ KB Golden Life Care's on-site operating experience. The intent is to establish senior-focused ▲ wearable-based health management services ▲ and to advance residential environment solutions based on AI home appliances and "SmartThings Pro." The new services and solutions will be applied to newly opening nursing facilities and senior towns going forward.

The senior-focused health management service will center on Samsung Electronics' Galaxy Watch and other wearables and the Digital Healthcare service "Samsung Health." The Galaxy Watch will measure residents' heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, activity levels and sleep patterns in nursing facilities, and "Samsung Health," developed specifically for seniors, will monitor the measured health information. When abnormalities occur, it will provide alerts to enable more systematic health management.

Samsung Electronics will also enhance specialized solutions for managing senior living environments centered on "SmartThings Pro," an AI-based business-to-business (B2B) solution. By connecting AI home appliances in senior living spaces to SmartThings Pro, it will keep indoor temperature, humidity and air quality in a comfortable range and manage energy consumption efficiently through integrated control of appliances.

Safety management functions will also be strengthened. If a resident stays in a private bathroom for longer than a set period, an occupancy sensor will detect it and, through speakers and lighting linked to SmartThings Pro, alert others to the abnormal situation so staff can respond immediately.

Ochiyo, vice president of Samsung Electronics Korea, said, "Through this agreement, Samsung Electronics' SmartThings Pro and Samsung Health will be able to prove new value in the senior care field," adding, "We plan to strengthen collaboration to meet rapidly growing demand in the senior market."
