Kakao Mobility will recruit talent for next-generation research and development (R&D) in Autonomous Driving technology. The strategy is to kick off full-scale development of end-to-end (E2E) Autonomous Driving technology, a pillar of the vision for a "physical AI-based future mobility corporations" that CEO Ryu Geung-seon recently emphasized in an internal message.
On the 20th, Kakao Mobility said it created a "physical AI" tab on its recruitment page and is hiring for four core R&D roles for Autonomous Driving systems. It will recruit talent with more than five years of experience across four Autonomous Driving roles, ranging from hardware, electrical and electronic equipment (HW/E/E), which form the foundation of the system, to software (AI/SLAM), the core brain.
To secure top talent, the company will not limit the size or duration of hiring, but will run a focused recruitment period through the 29th.
The roles span four fields: "Autonomous Driving AI engineer," who completes an "E2E integrated AI brain" using a VLA (Vision-Language-Action) model and Machine Learning operations optimization; "Autonomous Driving SLAM engineer," who advances precise positioning algorithms to inject spatial information into large AI models; "Autonomous Driving HW engineer," who handles sensor packaging and control system design; and "Autonomous Driving E/E engineer," who controls in-vehicle data flows through ultra-high-speed network design.
Kakao Mobility has advanced key technologies for E2E Autonomous Driving, such as the "AI planner," the brain of Autonomous Driving vehicles refined with complex urban data from Pangyo and Gangnam, and the "AI data pipeline," which trains and validates AI for Autonomous Driving with data. Through this hiring, the company plans to bring in additional Autonomous Driving specialists and accelerate efforts to secure technological capabilities.
Kim Jin-gyu, head of the physical AI institutional sector, said, "Data that reads the flow of the road, operational know-how built by solving complex real-world problems, and service capabilities that have always put customer safety first are Kakao Mobility's unique asset that even global big tech cannot easily imitate," adding, "Through this recruitment, we will accelerate our leap to a leading physical AI corporations by internalizing advanced Autonomous Driving technology."
