Kolon Benit said on the 19th that it has begun establishing an AI-based IT system and a service delivery framework to apply artificial intelligence (AI) across operations and boost productivity.

Kolon Benit is pushing a project to convert its core operating systems to the next-generation system SalesWorX. Through this, the company plans to apply an AI coding tool not only to design but across the entire development process to sharply improve work productivity. The company is currently carrying out the system migration for a total of 284 system menus, including key business areas such as procurement, distribution, marketing, projects, and asset.

In this project, the company adopted a development approach that uses an AI coding tool to automate existing code analysis and the generation of converted code. It said AI handles repetitive code conversion tasks while developers focus on design validation and quality enhancement, improving work efficiency. In a proof-of-concept (PoC), code conversion accuracy came in at about 70% to 90%, depending on code complexity. Based on this, the overall project development period is expected to be shortened from about one year under the existing approach to around five months. Development effort can be reduced by about 63%, and development expense is projected to fall by about 70%.

Kolon Benit plans to establish validation systems and quality management standards for AI utilization as it applies AI-based development methods, securing both development speed and system stability.

Chief Executive Kang I-gu of Kolon Benit said, "In the AX era, the speed and the way IT services are delivered to customers must change," adding, "Through a system-build model using a quick pilot method of applying AI on a trial basis, we will rapidly apply and validate new technologies and then expand them to respond to customer needs more quickly."
