Smilegate Future Lab said on the 19th that it is recruiting participants for IndieGo, an indie game creation contest with a total prize pool of 10 million won.
IndieGo is a contest for early-stage indie game creation teams, and any team developing a PC or mobile game that has not signed a publishing contract can apply. Applications are open until the 12th of next month.
The contest will select a total of seven teams, and the winning teams will receive prize money along with an opportunity to participate in the 18th class of Smilegate Membership (SGM).
Judging will focus on the game's fun and originality. All applicants will receive one-on-one mentoring from industry professionals, and a meetup event will be held to facilitate exchange among creators.
The contest prize fund was created through donations from SGM alumni teams. This year, Kassel Games, Indigo Blue, and Lizard Smoothie participated, and awards named after these teams will be presented.
Oh Suk-hyeon, head of Smilegate Future Lab, said it is "a program for exchange and support among indie game creators," adding, "We will continue to expand participation opportunities."
