Lisa Su, AMD chief executive officer, said this on the 18th when meeting with reporters at Naver's headquarters in Seongnam, Gyeonggi. Su will meet Naver CEO Choi Soo-yeon that day. Su is expected to meet Naver, an artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor customer, to discuss cooperation plans including AI data centers.
Asked whether she came here to expand AMD's AI business, she said, "Of course. Yes." She then said about plans to supply AI chips to Naver's data center, "We will discuss it today."
Su is scheduled to meet with Samsung Electronics Device Solutions (DS) management in the afternoon. She will visit the Samsung Electronics Pyeongtaek Campus to tour production lines with key semiconductor executives, including DS chief Jun Young-hyun (vice chairman) and President Han Jin-man. During this trip to Korea, Su is said to be discussing expanding cooperation with Samsung Electronics beyond memory to foundry.
Asked about cooperation with the Samsung Electronics foundry, Su said, "There is a great deal to discuss."
Su is also expected to meet Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong to discuss ways to flesh out business cooperation.
