LG Electronics said on the 18th that the tumbler washer LG Mycup surpassed 100,000 app account registrations in less than a year since its official launch.
By using the app, customers can check the location of nearby LG Mycup units to make a washing reservation, and when it is their turn, they receive a push notification and can use the service conveniently without waiting.
Usage of LG Mycup has also been rising sharply recently. On Jan. 1, the number of washes was about 400,000, roughly five times more than six months earlier. The cumulative number of washes to date stands at 2.3 million. The average daily usage of Mycup units installed on university campuses, where younger generations are concentrated, was more than 50% higher than the overall average.
Since its launch in April last year, LG Mycup has been expanding its installations across various everyday spaces, including more than 2,000 Starbucks stores nationwide, as well as cafes, public institutions, universities, corporate offices, and gyms. LG Electronics said demand is growing rapidly not only among private companies and individual business owners but also in the B2G (business-to-government) sector, such as public institutions and local governments, as increased interest in hygiene management, policies encouraging the use of reusable cups, and corporations' ESG management converge.
With a subscription service, a professional care manager visits every three months to provide specialized services, including: ▲ steam-cleaning hard-to-maintain areas such as the lower door grill and the detergent and rinse inlets ▲ checking touch screen operation and inspecting for exterior damage ▲ replacing the strainer inside the wash tub and the inlet water filters.
Park Sang-wan, head of the Mycup Company at LG Electronics, said, "We will broaden the footprint of LG Mycup, which delivers differentiated customer experiences such as excellent washing performance and convenience, so it can be found in various everyday spaces and help spread the culture of using tumblers."
