twentieth-century modern art will be added to the Samsung TV art subscription service.
Samsung Electronics said on the 17th that it partnered with the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) and released the SFMOMA collection on "Samsung Art Store," the art subscription service for Samsung TVs. SFMOMA is the first modern art museum on the U.S. West Coast and holds many 20th-century paintings, sculptures and photographs.
The SFMOMA collection consists of 34 works by artists known as "20th-century modern art masters," including Henri Matisse, Jackson Pollock, Frida Kahlo and Piet Mondrian. Works by U.S. pop art masters Robert Rauschenberg and Wayne Thiebaud are also available on Samsung Art Store.
Samsung Art Store is a Samsung TV–exclusive art subscription service available in more than 115 countries worldwide. In collaboration with institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the Musée d'Orsay and Art Basel, it offers more than 5,000 works by over 800 artists.
Christopher Bedford, director of the Helen & Charles Schwab Foundation at SFMOMA, said, "The partnership with Samsung Art Store opens a new chapter in how people encounter modern art," and added, "Through innovative technology, people who cannot visit SFMOMA in person can experience the works, and we are pleased to offer an opportunity for art to enrich everyday life."
An Hui-young, executive director at the Visual Display Business of Samsung Electronics, said, "We will continue to strengthen collaboration with leading institutions so people can comfortably enjoy world-class artworks in living rooms around the world."
